Job Overview

As a Pediatrics Medical Assistant, you'll play a critical role in supporting our healthcare providers and enhancing patient care in our Deer Park Clinic (3430 Center St, Deer Park, TX 77536).

  • Engage in hands-on, patient-centric care by assisting providers during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Maintain a well-stocked and organized environment to ensure seamless operations.
  • Empower lasting health impacts by administering vaccines and drawing blood effectively and compassionately.
  • Participate in a collaborative team environment where learning and growth are celebrated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to gather vital medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, and test results in the medical records.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Assist physicians in examining and treating patients, which includes handling instruments and materials.
  • Administer injections, conduct phlebotomy, and perform suturing as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms by cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking supplies.
  • Handle patient consultations regarding test results and health concerns via phone.
  • Facilitate accurate labeling and packaging for lab specimen pickup.
  • Maintain compliance with safety guidelines and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safe and effective operations by maintaining equipment and adhering to control measures.
  • Embrace a holistic, team-based approach within the primary care medical home framework.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance job performance and safety awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Experience: Up to one year of relevant experience is required; up to three years is desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication and customer service abilities are essential.
  • Competencies: Ability to work in high-pressure environments with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Technological Proficiency: Experience with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Desirable: Bilingual in English/Spanish and phlebotomy skills are preferred.
  • EMR Experience: Familiarity with electronic medical records is an advantage.
